We Heard You Like Pizza

We have a few quick updates for you!

Fat Sullys Slice Truck logo
Don’t worry. The real truck actually has axles. And windows. And ovens.

We heard you like pizza, so we put some pizza in your pizza so you can pizza while you pizza. Er. Actually, we called Fat Sully’s Slice Truck so that you could eat delicious pizza before or between watching some entertaining and informative presentations. This, of course, is way better than using pizza as literally every noun and verb.

Regular Ignite Denver attendees will recognize Fat Sully’s from prior events. They’re fast and did I mention that their pizza is delicious? It really is. We’re delighted to have them back at the Oriental Theater for Ignite Denver 12.

P.S. OMG! Submissions are almost closed! Better see that prior post and get to signing up! Want to jump in, but are a little intimidated? Drop a comment on this post or that, and I’ll reply to you by email with all sorts of support and reasons you should submit a spark.

P.P.S. OMG! Ignite Denver 12 is less than a month away! Do you have your costume ready?

P.P.P.S. No, it’s not Halloween themed. We just like costumes.

P.P.P.P.S. Technically, the post just has one update. All the other updates are in the postscripts. It’s like the additional updates came to the party in postscript costumes.

P.P.P.P.P.S. There is one more BIG announcement coming. Check back this week for the next chapter of this exciting update saga!

Ignite Denver 12 Spark Submissions

The next Ignite Denver is just around the corner, and it’s going to rock. We bring you a night of entrepreneurial brilliance in the middle of Startup Week Denver. The center of our event, however, are YOUR talks. Are you ready to entertain and inform a crowd of eager minds?

The process is simple. Hit up our submission form, type in a title for your talk, and add a punchy paragraph to briefly describe what you want to tell us about. Do you want to share the trials and tribulations of running a startup? Do you have some pointers on how NOT to pitch to a VC? Do you really love your toaster for 9 very specific reasons? Hey, the startup crowd cares about your toaster. All ideas are welcome!

There are just three basic rules to keep in mind.

  1. Entertain the people at least a little
  2. Inform the people just a little
  3. Don’t blatantly pitch anything

Don’t worry about that first point. If you try too hard, everyone will know. 😉 Just be your delightfully entertaining self, and we’ll all enjoy the talk. We don’t have any unreasonable expectations about pleasing everyone all the time.

Don’t worry about that second point. We just don’t want you to focus so much on bringing the funny that you forget to drop the knowledge. Everyone has something smart to share, and we can’t wait to hear what you’ve learned on your unique path through life.

Don’t worry about that third point. Of course you’re going to tell us who you are, what you do, and how we can reach your web site and social media accounts. We just want you to keep in mind that this is a fun presentation format, not a sales pitch. Trust that your informative and entertaining spark will ultimately guide everyone to your website anyhow. 😉

To get you started, here is a #SparkIdea or two (actually, three exactly) that you can use to get that little hamster running on that little wheel that churns out all your brilliance. Feel free to share more on your own channels!

#SparkIdea: Caffeine Matters: Your startup has been funded and you’ve hired the talent. Now you need to keep them running. I’ll tell you how to stock your break room in a budget-friendly manner that will keep your designers designing, your developers developing, and your scrum masters scrumming. Scrimmaging? Whatever. They’ll all be so busy making great stuff you won’t care what they call it.

#SparkIdea: My Toast Brings All the Boys to the Yard. Bread is fine, but toast is better, and my toast is the best. What’s my secret? This AMAZING toaster. If you want more boys in your yard, I’ll teach you how to find and perfect your own toaster-boy-bringer. Or you can just buy mine. I’m sick of all these boys in my yard. They’re so messy!

#SparkIdea: Theremin Lies the Problem: I hate the Theremin and so should you. It’s the stupidest musical instrument ever invented. I understand your hesitation to agree, but I have a fully defensible argument against its existence. I will share my carefully considered reasons with you, and in no time, you’ll hate the theremin just as much as I do. #Analog4Life

Ready? Ok! Bring your best ideas on our submission page HERE.

Announcing Ignite Denver 12

We are pleased to announce the date of Ignite Denver 12!

This time around we are working together with the first ever Denver Startup Week to bring together another exhilarating group of local minds from our networks of business, technology, art and academics. We are looking for the brightest thinkers and inspired entrepreneurs from all around Colorado to share a little bit of your knowledge and expertise on any topic that you would like to share with the world.

Denver Startup Week will be a series of events in and around Downtown Denver the week of October 22 – 26, 2012. Ignite Denver will be right in the heart of the action, on Wednesday October 24th.

The Ignite Denver committee has been hard at work coming up with some incredible surprises this time around; including free ticket offers, groovy contests and an exciting new downtown venue that we don’t get to talk about yet. As always we are working on putting on the very best show that we can, with love for the community that we are a part of.

Get your spark ideas together now!

We love our speakers! Ignite fans have seen the quality of presenters and topics get better each time. We want to expand our roster to include more inspiring people to share their passion and elevate our collective IQ. Do you know someone who has an interesting story to share? Does one of your friends have a boatload of charisma and a super cool hobby? Do Denver Startup Week a favor and turn them on to Ignite. Tell them how much fun it is to race through 20 slides that advance automatically every 15 seconds. Encourage someone new to get involved. Show them some of the videos of Ignites of yester-month.

…and about the Ignite Denver 11 videos…

Look for them next week. Sorry about the wait.
