O’Reilly Ignite “enlighten us, but make it quick”

Ignite is a fast-paced geek event started by Brady Forrest, Technology Evangelist for O’Reilly Media, and Bre Pettis of Makerbot.com, formerly of MAKE Magazine. Speakers are given 20 slides, each shown for 15 seconds, giving each speaker 5 minutes of fame. The first Ignite took place in Seattle in 2006, and since then the event has become an international phenomenon, with gatherings in Helsinki, Finland; Paris, France; New York, New York; and many other locations.”

Ignite Denver “Five minutes, twenty slides, and an attitude”
Denver has been part of the Ignite scene since 2009 and takes place at the Oriental Theater before a crowd of over 300 (and growing). Our speakers, like Denver itself, cover a diverse demographic of intelligent students and professionals with a strong sense of community and a strong love of keeping it real.
Our typical sponsors are locally-focused companies that appeal to a smart, technical (geeky, if you will), no-nonsense audience. Ignite Denver operates, as all Ignites are intended, for the community. Organizers and volunteers receive no payment, so all funds gathered go toward venue expenses and improving the quality of the event. This keeps the overhead low, and the attention focused on relatively few sponsors.

Definitions
Site Logo
Your logo will appear on all pages of IgniteDenver.org through the duration of the event you’re sponsoring, from the time you sign on, through the event and video post, and until the following event is announced (at which time the sidebar will be cleared for sponsors for the upcoming event). Logo sizes are measured in pixels and can be anything up to the following sizes:
- Large: 220 width by 220 height
- Medium: 220 width by 110 height
- Small: 110 width by 55 height
Exclusive Post
An Ignite Denver organizer will write a post about your company in a language that will appeal to our audience’s style and sensibilities. It can be written with or without your input, as you see fit. The post will be written to thank you for your sponsorship, raise awareness of your brand, and illustrate what your company does (including any special announcements such as hiring, sales, or new products). If you prefer the post to be written without your direct involvement, your approval will be attained before anything is posted.
Comp Seats
Sponsors, having made a donation to Ignite Denver, may wish to personally witness their glorious logos displayed on the stage. We encourage all sponsors to attend the event they’ve supported. Sponsors are granted early admittance to the venue to choose the section and seats of their preference.
Shared Slide
At the event, one sponsor slide will be created illustrating all companies that sponsored the current Ignite Denver. During the slide’s display, the MC will thank all the sponsors collectively (not by name) and praise their support of the community. This slide will be displayed at least once during the event, prior to the first presentation. Logo size will correspond to sponsorship level, though overall slide layout will supersede specific dimensions.
Personal Slide
Bonfire-level sponsors and above will have a slide all to themselves. This slide will prominently feature the business’s logo, contact information, and whatever pertinent information would appeal to the Ignite crowd (hiring notice, promotional materials, etc). This slide will be shown at least once during the event, and will mostly likely fall between two presentations, prior to the next speaker’s introduction. While your slide is on-screen, the Ignite MC will acknowledge your business. The MC’s remark will be flattering, if nonsensical.
